What are clear braces?

Clear braces, also known as ceramic braces, work exactly the same as conventional metal braces.

They have brackets bonded to the front teeth to hold archwires which apply pressure to slowly guide your teeth into the desired positions.

The difference however is in the material used. Clear braces have brackets made from tooth-coloured or clear ceramic to blend in with your smile.

What is the process to getting clear braces?

Initial Consultation

You first come in for a consultation at HiTech Ortho in Warragul, where we will examine your mouth and look at your orthodontic issue.

Our team will take x-rays and impressions of your bite to help plan a treatment customised to you.

Planning your Treatment

Our team will develop your treatment and how we plan to shift your teeth.

Getting the Braces

Once you are ready to receive your braces, our team will have you back into the clinic, where we will prepare your teeth and place your braces.

The entire process begins with a professional dental clean, followed by conditioning and priming your teeth ready for your braces.

Afterwards your tooth-coloured or clear ceramic braces will be cemented onto your teeth.  Following this, the archwires will be threaded through your brackets, followed by any other attachments.

Discussion of Oral Care

Once your braces have been correctly fitted, we will have a talk with you to discuss how you should care for your oral health and what you can and can’t do with your braces.

This may include:

• How to brush and floss your teeth
• The dietary restrictions for braces
• Future archwires adjustments

How long do clear braces take?

Every patient is a unique case and so the longevity of a treatment is always different. However, you can expect clear braces to take 18 to 36 months.
