Lingual braces are a state-of-the-art orthodontic treatment which are attached to the back side of your teeth
The alternative to conventional metal braces that doesn’t sacrifice any efficiency, while also being completely discreet, so that you can straighten your teeth without anyone noticing.
What are lingual braces
Lingual braces have all the same components that traditional braces have; however, the only difference is they are inverted as they are placed on the backside of the tooth, rather than the front, like conventional metal braces.
How do lingual braces work?
Lingual braces work in the exact same way as conventional metal braces, because they have archwires which apply pressure to the dental arch to gradually guide the teeth into their beautiful, straight position over the course of treatment.
The benefits of lingual braces
There are many benefits to why people choose to get lingual braces over the traditional metal braces on the frontside of the tooth, these include:
Discreetness – They are on the backside of the tooth, which means people cannot see them while you smile, laugh or talk.
No visible decalcification – Some people are left with decalcification of the tooth once their braces are taken off. These appear as white marks where the bracket was secured to the tooth. With lingual braces, this is not an issue at all.
Comfortable – Since lingual braces are on the back, they have less contact with soft tissue inside your mouth, which leaves you with less cuts and sores.
Results as they happen – Since there are no brackets or wires blocking the progress of your smile, you will be able to see the changes as they happen.
All options – Lingual braces can still fix every issue that traditional metal braces can, so you are not sacrificing any efficiency at all.
Do lingual braces increase treatment time?
No, lingual braces generally will not increase your treatment time, as they are just as efficient as traditional metal braces.
Are lingual braces more expensive?
Yes, generally lingual braces are more expensive than traditional metal braces. Extra training is required to fit lingual braces and monitor the ongoing progress, along with a more complicated fitting process. Also, lingual braces are made from more expensive materials than conventional metal braces.
